Voce Italiana has interviewed Vincenzo De Martino, who will come from Milan to train Virginia’s young soccer talents. De Martino is an AC Milan coach holding a UEFA A license and is a former Italian champion with the Under-17 girls’ team. He also served as the assistant coach for the Serie A women’s team for two years. We caught up with him to ask a few questions.
Vincenzo, tell us about the Academy.
The AC Milan Academy Virginia was founded in late 2023 by Dario Scatena, an Italian lawyer and entrepreneur based in Washington. The academy’s goal is to foster growth and instill values in boys and girls through the methodology of AC Milan.
What are the Academy’s objectives?
We involve children aged 4-19 in an elite technical program supporting their sports and personal growth. AC Milan specialists coordinate and train local technical staff to support our members’ daily growth. Talented players will have a real chance to become tomorrow’s champions.
As a parent, convince me to enroll my son and daughter in the Academy.
Our Academy provides an additional edge for athletes. First and foremost, we have an official AC Milan coach from Italy, yours truly. Our programs are designed with a maximum of 5 players per group, and we offer personalized plans that focus on technical, tactical, and coordination skills. Our students participate in American league championships and tournaments: we’ve already won two championships and a tournament. Last but not least, I’d like to mention the AC Milan Experience: a week at AC Milan’s sports center in Milan with official coaches, to attend the men’s first-team match in San Siro [Milan’s main stadium], to visit the museum, and explore the city.
