With a rainy forecast, the fifth annual Vespa Club of DC Raduno kicked off on Friday, September 27, marking a milestone in its history with a record-breaking 95 registrants. Excitement buzzed in the air as riders from the DC area, Virginia, and Maryland—making up 75% of the participants—converged at the kick-off gathering in historic Georgetown. The remaining 25% had traveled from as far as New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and even California, all eager to celebrate their shared passion for scooters and the lifestyle that the Vespa brand represents.

Over the next 24 hours, the Raduno transformed Washington DC into a vibrant tapestry of colorful scooters and camaraderie. Five distinct rides wove through scenic routes throughout the weekend, each one showcasing the monumental beauty of Washington DC and the surrounding region. A short visit to the Italian Embassy, where participants were welcomed by representatives of the Italian Ambassador, was a high point of the Raduno.

As the sun set, the Raduno culminated in a spirited Italian-themed celebration at Casa Italiana. The venue buzzed with energy, filled with the aroma of delicious pasta and the sound of lively music. Participants mingled, sharing tales of the day’s adventures while raising their glasses in toast to friendship and community.

The highlight of the evening came when the much-anticipated door prize for a donated Vespa GT200 was announced. All eyes turned to new member Joe Grajewski, whose astonishment was palpable as his name was called. Cheers erupted, and Joe beamed with joy, his excitement reflecting the spirit of the Raduno.

As the night wore on, the bonds forged among riders lingered in the air, promising to carry them through until the next gathering. The Raduno had not only marked a record in attendance but had also created memories that would last a lifetime.
